About the Chevrolet SS
The Chevrolet Opala is a mid-sized car manufactured by General Motors do Brasil from 1968 to 1992. Unveiled at the 1968 São Paolo Auto Show, the Opala was derived from the Opel Rekord and Commodore but used a locally-penned design and North American-designed engines; its name is said to have been derived from a combination of "Opel" and "Impala", or from the word "opal", but GM states this name was simply a name chosen by journalists and later adopted due to its general popularity.
