About the Ford Escort
In 1983, Hot Wheels debuted the Ford Escort, a replica of the European Ford Escort XR3. To those in North America, the Escort was something new, but in Europe the Escort name had been around since 1968, and by the early '80s the XR3 was in its third generation.
