About the Orca
The Orca was a fishing boat owned and captained by Quint, an eccentric war veteran. It was used during the film's climax to hunt Bruce, the shark terrorizing the waters of Amity. On what would be its final voyage, the ship was overrevved and inadvertently scuttled, although police chief Martin Brody who was present for the ship's final voyage fired an explosive shot from the boat as it sank, killing Bruce. The Orca was constructed by art director and production designer Joe Alves from a lobster
