About the Pontiac J-2000
The Pontiac Sunbird is a compact car manufactured by the Pontiac division of General Motors from 1975 to 1994. The second generation of Sunbird was styled by Irv Rybicki and introduced in 1982; it was initially named the J2000 for its first year, replacing the rear-wheel drive Sunbird introduced in 1975. Built on GM's J-body platform, the J2000 was renamed to 2000 for 1983 to position it as a smaller version of the similar-looking mid-sized 6000, before later being renamed again to 2000 Sunbird
